9:00                  Leave no trace talk & hike to Goose Hill; Discuss Sea of Champlain

10:30                Drawing from Nature – keeping a nature journal, how to draw/describe in detail

11:00                ÒThere is Treasure EverywhereÓ Hunt – using journal campers practice leave no trace observation & drawingÉ Goose Hill area

11:30                Sharing todayÕs best treasures / Game time

12:00-12:30        Relax & Pick-up time

 

Tuesday

8:00-8:30           Drop-off time

8:30                  Active use & Conservation

8:45                  Trail Hike and talk about trail building, look for places to build a new section of trail / tag a section for construction considering terrain, wildlife, soil types, land features, and future uses.

10:30                Working with our hands: trail building crew

12:00-12:30        Relax & Pick-up time

 

Wednesday

8:00-8:30           Drop-off time

8:30                  Leave no trace hike to Indian Lookout, journaling &

discussion about natural & man-made features along the way.

8:30                  Managing for Wildlife: the importance of edge, apples and berries

8:45                  Trail hike and management discussion: look for areas to improve the landscape for wildlife & Working with our hands: improving the landscape for wildlife.

10:00                Snack

10:30                Working with our hands: finish up with improving the landscape for wildlife goal.

11:30                Game time

12:00-12:30        Relax & Pick-up time

 

Friday

8:00-8:30           Drop-off time

8:30                  Watching for wildlife & birds!  How to look for signs, identify tracks, songs & scat.

9:00                  Trail hike and wildlife tracking & bird watching

10:00                Snack

10:30                Hazardous plants to look out for!  What not to touch, tickle or taste!

11:30                Game time

12:15                Informal awards

(promptly at 12:15; parents welcome to attend) & Pick-up time


 

What to bring to Eco-Conservation Camp:

á       Water bottle with a hip belt or a hydration pack (some way to carry water with you!)

á       Snack is provided, but those w/ special dietary needs or tastes should bring their own

á       Adequate apparel: work pants & gloves, sneakers with knobby soles or hiking boots; rain gear; some extra layers; a COMPLETE SET OF DRY CLOTHES for each day; and a towel

á       Bug repellant & sun screen (or a combination product)

á       A watch
